Where can we get married?
You may get married anywhere you choose. You will need a permit for some popular venues, for example parks, particularly if you plan to have a large wedding. At other venues you can just arrive. You may also get married at your home.
How many people can we have for our wedding?
You must have at least two people at your wedding who will be your witnesses. They should be adults (18 years old or over) and must speak english, if the marriage is to be conducted in english.
Can I have my wedding in another language?
Yes you may have your wedding conducted in a language other than english provided there is an accredited language translator present, as well as the celebrant.
How soon can we get married?
You may get married a month after you have each signed and had witnessed the “notice of intention to marry”. There are some instances for which the time can be shortened with court approval.
How long does a wedding take?
This is entirely up to you. The briefest form of a wedding takes only a few minutes, but you may wish to add personal touches such as readings, music or announcements.
